Low Voltage Self-Supporting Cable, 5-Core (Alloy Messenger Neutral)

Low Voltage Self-Supporting Cable, 5-Core (Alloy Messenger Neutral)

Technical Specifications Table

The low-voltage self-supporting 5-core cable with alloy messenger neutral, 0.6/1(1.2) kV, consists of aluminum conductors insulated with black cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) containing carbon black, with a neutral conductor and common aluminum-alloy messenger suitable for three-phase and single-phase cables with conductor sizes from 16 to 120 mm².
This type of self-supporting cable is categorized as an aerial bundled cable (ABC) in which phase aluminum conductors (including street lighting conductor) are twisted around a single aluminum-alloy messenger conductor that serves as the neutral.

This self-supporting cable with insulated messenger can be installed in two ways:
Suspended between poles and supports.

Surface-mounted on building facades or walls.

General Specifications:

a. Cable Type: Self-supporting cable with neutral and common messenger insulated, suitable for fixed aerial installation with nominal voltage 0.6/1(1.2) kV.

b. Classification of self-supporting cables (three-phase and single-phase) based on the number of cores:
Five-core cable: Three phase cores, one street lighting core, and one neutral messenger.

Identification of cores and cable marking:
Phase conductors: Raised longitudinal ribs (one, two, or three) on the outer surface of the insulation for identification.
Street lighting conductor: No ribs.
Neutral messenger: Raised longitudinal ribs around the insulation evenly distributed (commonly called “thousand ribs”).
The height, width, and spacing of ribs must allow easy identification of the cores. Use of white or colored longitudinal stripes is not permitted.
