ACSR – Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced

ACSR – Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced

Technical Specifications Table

Aluminum conductors steel reinforced with aluminum-coated steel core (AW) consist of aluminum 1350 strands, woven in one or more layers around a central steel core coated with AW (aluminum coating) and having a circular cross-section.
ACSR conductors are manufactured in accordance with the requirements of ASTM B549, ASTM B502, and ASTM B230 standards.

Features

The steel core, which includes a thin layer of aluminum coating (approximately 10% of the nominal wire radius) surrounding the steel wire, forms ACSR/AW conductors. These conductors combine the lightweight and good electrical conductivity of aluminum with the high tensile strength of steel.

ACSR/AW conductors are mainly designed in the following strand configurations:
6/1, 7/1, 12/7, 36/1, 24/7, 26/7, 30/7, 30/19, 54/7, and 54/19.

Applications

Aluminum conductors steel reinforced with aluminum-coated steel core (ACSR/AW) are used in transmission and distribution lines in areas requiring high corrosion resistance and high-temperature endurance.
These conductors are often utilized in regions with air pollution, along coastal areas, and in industrial zones.
