Aluminum Granules (Hemispherical Form)

Aluminum Granules (Hemispherical Form)

  • Aluminum Granules (Hemispherical Form)

Hemispherical aluminum granules, with a purity of 96–98%, a diameter of 70 mm, and a weight of 200–250 g, are used in the steel industry as an oxygen scavenger.

In the steelmaking process, it is necessary to remove dissolved oxygen from the molten steel. Aluminum and silicon are the most important deoxidizing agents used for this purpose.

Role of Aluminum in Addition to Deoxidation:

  • Increase toughness
  • Control grain size
  • Melting point: 660 °C
  • Boiling point: 2470 °C
  • Density of molten aluminum: 3 g/cm³
  • Density of solid aluminum: 7 g/cm³
