The low voltage multi-core aluminum sector conductor power cable (SECTOR) is a type of power cable that, depending on its application, is produced in three-core (three-phase), three-and-a-half-core, or four-core (three-phase plus neutral or earth wire) configurations.
This type of cable consists of sector-shaped conductors with smaller diameters instead of round ones.
Each core is insulated with either PVC (NAYY) or XLPE (NA2XY) insulation. Due to the sector shape and the compact arrangement of the twisted cores, these cables do not require fillers, resulting in a reduced overall cable diameter.
In addition, the sector-shaped aluminum conductors are in closer contact with one another, which increases the cable’s electrical conductivity and reduces voltage drop along its length.
The outer sheath of this type of cable is made of PVC, which is applied over the twisted conductors. Compared to large round conductor cables, sector-shaped aluminum conductor cables (SECTOR) have smaller diameters and lighter weight, which help to reduce transportation and installation costs.
